How did “Exit Interview” originate? What inspirations did you draw on?
I’ve worked some bad jobs before. I figure we all have. So it came from that, to a degree.
What is your writing process like? Did this story fit the pattern?
I rewrite a lot. Most of my first drafts are awful. This one wasn’t any different. I rewrote it till I was happy with it.
What led you into writing genre fiction?
I just like weird things.
What are you reading lately? What writers inspire you?
I’m reading Proust at the moment. It’s pretty cool.
What are you working on lately? Where else can fans look for your work?
I’m writing a new book. I’m working on new short fiction. I’ve got a novella coming out this year, maybe, called The Red Labyrinth. I’ve a substack if you want to follow that, and some social media, if you want to keep track of me. I’m not sure I recommend it, but it’s out there. I mostly talk about shit. Oh, and my cats. I also talk about my cats. My partner and I have two. They’re black and into lizards.
