How did “The Ministry of Saturn” originate? What inspirations did you draw on?

I don’t really remember, to be honest. I think I wanted to write a story about werewolves. I’ve been trying to do that for a while now, but instead I wrote about a homunculus. Some time before I’d come across Paracelsus and I read what he wrote and I guess it stuck.

What is your writing process like? Did this story fit the pattern?

I write and rewrite and rewrite some more. I wish I was quicker, but I’m not. This story, like most of them, was meant to be done in a week or two, but wasn’t.

Where are you in this story?

Everywhere and nowhere, like most writers in most stories, I imagine.

What led you into writing genre fiction?

I just like strange things.

What are you working on lately? Where else can fans look for your work?

I finished a novel recently. I’ll see if anything comes of it. I’m going to start a new novel soon. I’ve some short fiction I’m writing. It’s the same old thing, tapping away. If you want, you can find some more work here in Lightspeed, and I’ve some in Nightmare and other places on the net.
